Recreation / Outdoor Activities
Southwestern Michigan offers a long list of outdoor recreational opportunities for you to enjoy. Our public parks and private recreation facilities offer trail activities like cross country skiing, hiking, biking, snowmobiling, and horseback riding. We have some great places for extreme sports like skateboarding, rollerblading, motocross racing, and even whitewater kayaking and canoeing.
Of course we also have the not so extreme outdoor activities like golf and visiting botanical gardens. Our numerous inland lakes, the St. Joseph and Dowagiac Rivers, and nearby Lake Michigan offer year-round fishing and boating opportunities. Anglers can expect to find bluegill, brown trout, lake trout, rainbow trout, large-mouth and small-mouth bass, steelhead, walleye, coho salmon, carp, catfish, northern pike, and others.
Take a moment to explore your options and remember every season is the right season to get outside in Southwestern Michigan.
